Dr Emmanuel Bonnet is a Research Director at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development, he is based at the IRD International Campus in Ouagadougou. He holds a PhD in Geography, he also has an accreditation to supervise PhD students. His work focuses on issues of vulnerability of populations to risks. His work has focused first on European cities and for the past 15 years on African cities. Before joining IRD, Emmanuel Bonnet was a lecturer at the Universities of Lille 1 and Caen Normandy where he directed several research programs on health, vulnerability, and information systems issues. He is a researcher with nearly 20 years of experience in the fields of risks and vulnerabilities, particularly in surveillance system. Dr Emmanuel Bonnet has been commissioned on numerous occasions by the World Bank, AFD, Expertise France, and the African Development Bank to conduct consultations and research.
